Twenty-seven teams from 23 countries and regions participated in the event. The holding of this inaugural World Ice Dragon Boat Championships transformed ice dragon boat from a popular mass entertainment activity into an organized, procedural, and rule-based ice competitive sport. Ice dragon boats have been widely carried out in most areas of North America, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, and northern China. As a winter team sport, it has been included in the sports blue book Development Plan for Ice and Snow Sports (2016-2025) issued by the General Administration of Sport of China, and also listed as a mass sports event in the 14th National Winter Games of China in 2020.

The successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics has left a rich legacy for China, and the popularity of ice and snow sports in the country has continued to rise. In the post-Winter Olympics era, it is crucial to consolidate and expand the achievements of "driving 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports" and vigorously develop mass ice and snow sports. Mass ice and snow sports are not only the foundation for the development of competitive ice and snow sports, but also the mass foundation for boosting ice and snow sports consumption and the development of the ice and snow sports industry, which helps to promote the high-quality development of ice and snow sports continuously.

President Xi Jinping emphasized when meeting with IOC President Thomas Bach that "ice and snow are also gold and silver mountains". The holding of the Ice Dragon Boat Super League inherits the traditional Chinese culture and carries forward the dragon boat spirit. Meanwhile, it strives to promote the integrated development of culture, sports, and tourism in various provinces and cities through the ice dragon boat project with high participation, wide popularity, significant influence, and strong driving force, to establish the city spirit, realize resource opening, and create a new business card for ice and snow sports.

The Ice Dragon Boat Super League is a brand-new IP event for the ice dragon boat. Adopting a station-based competition system attracts ice dragon boat teams from various regions to participate, providing a broader platform for teams from multiple cities to compete with each other and bringing the best participation experience to all participants. The champions of each station will compete in the final, and the winning team will be awarded the annual championship.

The event is co-hosted by Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Liaoning Province, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with strong support from the Sports Bureau of Heilongjiang Province, the Sports Bureau of Jilin Province, the Sports Bureau of Liaoning Province, and the Sports Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It sets up seven stations in Xilingol (Inner Mongolia), Ulagai (Inner Mongolia), Qitaihe (Heilongjiang), Jingpo Lake (Heilongjiang), Jingyu (Jilin), Jinzhou (Liaoning), and Dalian (Liaoning), divided into two groups: the Open Group and the Local Enterprise Group. The competition events include 5-person ice dragon boat, 12-person ice dragon boat, and 100m and 200m straight-line races for combined dragon boats. The number of participating teams and participants reached their highest in the history of domestic ice dragon boat events of the same kind, making it the largest-scale annual event in China's ice dragon boat competition history.
