On January 21, 2017, the 2017 Xinjiang Tianchi Ice Dragon Boat Race, hosted by the International Ice Dragon Boat Federation (IIDBF), the Sports Bureau of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the People’s Government of Fukang City, kicked off. A total of 22 teams from 3 counties and cities — Fukang City, Fuhai County of Altay Prefecture, and Beitun City of the 10th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) — attended the opening ceremony.

Liu Fumin, Director of the Youth Sports Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, announced the opening of the 2017 Xinjiang Fukang Tianchi Ice Dragon Boat Race.

Other leaders attending the opening ceremony included Liu Yi, Dong Ying, Wu Yong, Zhang Jun, Xue Dingjun, Xu Jie, Wang Haiyan, etc., from the Regional Sports Bureau, Changji Prefecture, and Fukang City.

After several rounds of fierce competition, the team from the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the team from Fuhai County, and the No.2 Team from Beitun City of the

 10th Division of the XPCC won the first, second, and third places respectively.
