To consolidate and expand the achievements of "encouraging 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports" and enhance the popularization and development level of mass ice and snow sports, the "Guanzhong Style · Jubilant Chaoyang" 2024-2025 Ice Dragon Boat Super League (Liaoning · Chaoyang Station) grandly opened at the Shijiahe Water Area in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province on January 14, 2025.
The China Association hosts this competition for the Promotion of Cultural Industry and Chaoyang Municipal People's Government, supported by Liaoning Provincial Sports Bureau, undertaken by Chaoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism and Radio Television, co-organized by Chaoyang Daling River Scenic Area Management Office and Chaoyang Dragon Boat Association, and implemented by the Dragon Boat Culture Professional Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Cultural Industry. It is also the first time Chaoyang City has joined the Ice Dragon Boat Super League. The Ice Dragon Boat Super League is currently China's largest and most influential annual event that combines ice and snow elements with traditional culture. This year's league will hold eight stops in 5 provinces including Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei and Inner Mongolia, namely: Harbin Station (Heilongjiang), Huinan Station (Jilin), Changchun Station (Jilin), Fushun Station (Liaoning), Kangbao Station (Hebei), Chaoyang Station (Liaoning), Shenyang Station (Liaoning) and Xilinhot Station (Inner Mongolia, the final).

Leaders and guests invited to attend the event include Luo Zhongyi (President of the International Ice Dragon Boat Federation and Chairman of the Dragon Boat Culture Professional Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Cultural Industry), Li Zhigang (Director of the Industry Department of Liaoning Provincial Sports Bureau), Ju Huimin (Member of the Standing Committee of Chaoyang Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department), Li Shijun (Deputy Director of Chaoyang Municipal People's Congress), Gao Yuheng (Vice Mayor of Chaoyang Municipal People's Government), Liu Jichun (Vice Chairman of Chaoyang Municipal Political Consultative Conference) and Wang Yonghui (Director of Chaoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism). The competition is divided into Open Group and Local Group, with 31 teams and nearly 500 athletes participating. Among them, the Open Group consists of 19 teams from various provinces and cities across the country; the Local Group comprises 12 local dragon boat teams from Chaoyang City. The events include a 12-person ice dragon boat 200m straight race, a 5-person ice dragon boat 100m straight race, a 12-person ice dragon boat 300m mark-around return race, and a 4-person combined dragon boat 100m straight race.
At the referee's order, dragon boats rushed out of the starting line like arrows off the string, competing on the smooth ice. During the competition, the neat and uniform shouts of the athletes resounded through the sky; hundreds of paddles moved in unison, splashing ice shards everywhere. The collision between the ice paddles and the ice surface created a battle song, driving the dragon boats to gallop on the ice.

Ice dragon boat is an innovation and extension of the traditional dragon boat sport. It retains the technicality and competitiveness of conventional dragon boat, breaks the seasonal limitation of dragon boat sport, and is more full of speed and passion. It is a new ice sport integrating competitiveness, teamwork, and entertainment. In recent years, due to their strong public participation, high ornamental value, and rich traditional Chinese cultural characteristics, ice dragon boats have been widely sought after in many countries and cities in Asia, North America, and Europe.

We firmly believe that the excellent presentation of these ice dragon boat events will attract more people to pay attention to and love ice dragon boat sports, further promote the integrated development of culture, sports and tourism in various regions, provide platforms and opportunities for the public to participate in ice.
The 2024-2025 Ice Dragon Boat Super League will move to Shenyang on January 16. The highlight of this year's league, the 2024-2025 Ice Dragon Boat Super League Final, will be held in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, from January 18 to 19. Don't miss more exciting moments!
